Ouch, Yay, Dang!

Today I walked into 4th hour English and my legs were hurting really bad. They were hurting from baseball conditioning on Wednesday. I could barely walk. Every step I took, my calves would feel like they were about to tear open. Then I finally sat down and immediately after, Mr. Fielder said that we were going down to the computer lab. My legs were just starting to get better and we had to get up again. On a scale from 1 to 10 they hurt a 9 and I had to walk down to the computer lab. It was outrageous. So I got up and my legs started to burn right away and we walked down the hall into the preschool hall. Then we went into a very warm place for once and probably the computer lab with the worst computers. The only thing good about getting up and walking again into the computer lab was that the computer lab was warm.

I was actually partially excited about being in the worst computer lab in the school because of the fact that it was warm and outside, the temperature with the wind chill was about 3 degrees. I sat down in a corner surrounded by computers. I was squeezed by computers to my left and right but right behind me there was a computer too. There were so many computers in such a little area. Then it took a long time for the computer to start up but when it finally did I had to go onto the internet and I knew that something bad was going to happen. It took about 10 minutes for me to get comfortable in my chair and for the computer to get onto the internet. I also had to find where to plug my mouse into the computer and I had to adjust my monitor and keyboard and slant them so I had a comfortable position. It is still sort of uncomfortable because my hand was practically hanging off of the table. I had finally fixed it and then, the bell rang to go to lunch. I was so mad that I took that much time to fix my computer and then I had to get up and walk again. And of course, my legs continued to hurt and I had to walk to lunch and all the way back and tried to finish what I started in the computer lab.

The Genocide

I think that the genocide did not have to happen and since it did, it could’ve been stopped.

The genocide didn’t have to happen because the Hutu president made the MRND who started it. The MRND went right to work and blamed the Tutsi for killing the Hutu president. They made a radio station that convinced the Hutus and the Interahamwe that the Tutsis were going to invade so the Interahamwe were told to kill the Tutsis, so like any other military would, they followed directions. Everyone blames the Interahamwe for killing people but they don’t know the real story. So Juvenal Habirayama (The Hutu President) and the MRND are to blame.

It also could’ve been stopped by the U.S. The U.S. did absolutely nothing about it. They knew the genocide was going on and they didn’t do anything because they just got finished with a similar problem in Somalia. They said that they were too busy and that they didn’t have time to work in Rwanda. If they would’ve actually done something in Rwanda, they could’ve made a huge difference. At that time, they had the best military and could’ve stopped the genocide fairly easily. But they did nothing.

Interahamwe

In the Rwandan genocide, I play the role of the Interahamwe. People blame us because we were the killers. All of the people that blame us don’t know anything. We were brainwashed by the National Revolutionary Movement for Development (MRND). They had radio stations that had told all Rwandans that the Tutsis were making a plan to kill us. We were told to kill Tutsis and as the military, we did what we were told. They were telling us to kill and we did. Asking us why we killed people would be like asking why would you kill people in WWll. It is the same story.

I would also blame the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) for invading Rwanda in the first place. If they wouldn’t have invaded in the first place, none of this would’ve happened if they wouldn’t have invaded. The MRND might’ve thought that when the RPF invaded, that Tutsis were invading and getting ready to kill.

Juvenal Habyarimana is also to blame. He was the Hutu president and armed us with spears and machetes and threatened us. He told us if the rebels tried to take over to kill all Tutsis. We listened.

These are all of the reasons why we were told to kill.

The American Scholar

Emerson’s story in the “American Scholar” is about American society is true today.

One reason Emerson’s argument is still true is because jobs are more specialized. My dad is an accountant. He is very smart and very good with numbers. That is what Americans would classify him as, just as an accountant. He can do way more than that though. He can teach me to do things, he can help people with whatever they need help with, he can cook, and he can be a good father. Emerson writes that “Man isn’t a farmer, or professor, or engineer, but he is all.” He is saying that man is not supposed to be classified by what they do, but who they are. Man should be classified as man not by farmer, professor, or engineer.

Another reason is that people are doing their jobs without even thinking. Professional athletes are doing this. They get millions of dollars and try to ask for more to play a game. They know that the way the economy is and they don’t even care. Also, people are so good at their jobs that after a while, they don’t have to think about what they are doing because people know their jobs so well. They know how to do things so well, people classify them for what they are good at.

Halloween

Every year for Halloween I have gone trick-or-treating. I don't really like to dress up but I have to or else I won't get anything. Before I was five, I was a pumpkin, an elephant, and I think I was an M&M once. Since then I have been a baseball head, a baseball player for like 4 years in a row when I was younger, a hockey player twice, I think a hippy twice, and I was a hobo once. I know that I don’t have good costumes but at least I get to go. I dressed up as my favorite baseball player (at the time), Robert Fick. I put a pillow in my shirt even though he wasn’t fat, eye black, and everything else a baseball player would wear.

I used to go with my family until I was 10. We always go down my street, then we get in the car, go to the street and sub division across from us, and sometimes we go to my uncle’s. I have a pretty big street so when we get finished with my street, we empty our pillow cases and go back out. After I go on my street, I go to my friend’s house and go with them. People that don’t go Trick-or-Treating are crazy. You knock on houses and people give you free candy! It is so cool.

I love when I get home, I pour out all of the candy I got then put it in a container in my room for when I want it. I like to see what I got and I trade for the candy I like. My brother likes Almond Joy’s and I don’t like those so I usually trade those. My favorite is Snickers, and Reese’s. A Iot of my chocolate l get, I like to put in the freezer. Snickers are amazing frozen but the gold medal definitely goes to the Reese’s peanut butter cups.

The worst thing to get is anything that isn’t candy. I don’t mind when people give you money, but the usually only give you like 10 cents. It is better than a rock but 10 cents is ridiculous. The only good thing that isn’t candy is pop. One Halloween at one house, they gave me a can of Root Beer. I wish I could’ve drunk it. What happened was that I forgot that I had a root beer in my bag so I swung it around and it accidentally hit a tree. The root beer exploded but all of my candy was still good so that was just a funny story.

The Holidays

This is the most exciting time of the year. It is time for the Holidays! At the end of October Halloween comes, in November is Thanksgiving, in December there is Christmas, and finally barely in January in New Years Day. I like all of them. You get to have fun and eat a lot of stuff.

On the last day of October is Halloween. I like walking around in a costume and going from house to house getting candy. I like dressing up and going with my friends. I go on my street and then I go on the neighborhood across from me and usually go to my uncle’s house. I got a pop one time and it exploded all over my candy. But the candy was in a wrapper so it was still good. I don’t like the really scary houses but I don’t care if it is a little scary.

Then 3 weeks after Halloween comes the Turkey Day, also known as Thanksgiving. I love the feast on Thanksgiving. I eat turkey, ham, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, and a whole bunch of other food. We go over my other uncle’s house and stay there all day. We talk, eat, and we of course watch the Thanksgiving football games. The Lions always play of Thanksgiving so we usually watch them but they usually lose (You might’ve guessed that). It is a great time on Thanksgiving Day.

The next month holds the best of the 4, Christmas. Not only do we get presents, but it is the Lord’s birthday. That is why it is so important. On Christmas Eve, we go over my uncle’s house and have a Polish dinner and we open a few presents. It is really fun. For Christmas, we open our presents and have a good breakfast and later we either go over my grandma’s house or we stay at our house. The whole family comes over and we give each other presents and have a great time. We also have a huge meal and finish it off with a birthday cake for Jesus.

On New Years, we go to my dad’s friend’s house and have a party there. We eat a good meal, play games, and definitely watch college football bowl games. We always watch the good bowl game and the Michigan game if they are on. We watch the Winter Classic outdoor hockey game during commercials too. All of the holidays are really fun and I can’t wait for them because they are almost here.

something i dont like

I don’t like that President Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize. I think that choosing Obama was the stupidest decision. He hasn’t even done peaceful things. He is running a war and not worrying anything about his country. He is worried about world peace but nothing is happening. I think that he is a terrible president. Obama has done nothing for the U.S. We are suffering with a terrible economy, we are in a war and he was busy worrying more about bringing the Olympics to Chicago than fixing the economy. He is the forth president to win the Nobel Peace Prize. Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, and Jimmy Carter all won it as well.

It is too early for the president to win. He was nominated two weeks into his presidency! He wasn’t even doing anything within those two weeks. He has been president for 9 months and he has barely done anything. If he worked for the U.S., then I could understand a little bit more why he would’ve won the prize. Or if they would’ve waited until next year when he might have actually did something. The prize should’ve been awarded to somebody who actually deserves it or somebody that actually does something for peace. They did it too early and in my opinion, he definitely does not deserve it.

Obama is also thinking of sending more troops to Afghanistan. He was originally going to make the number 40,000. Now he is thinking of raising the number of troops to Afghanistan by 20,000. He is supposed to be trying to end the war. Instead, he is thinking of making it 60,000 troops in Afghanistan! I think that he needs to end this war as soon as possible.

However, he should be trying to end this war. I think that Obama should be doing whatever he can to end the war. If it takes 60,000 troops, then make it 60,000 troops. It shouldn’t come to that but if it does, just get it over with. There would be so many Americans in Afghanistan. There are already a lot of troops and it would seem like wherever you go, there would be an American soldier if he does send more troops. 60,000 really isn’t a lot compared to the Afghan population but that is still a lot of soldiers and since it is a small country compared to the U.S., It would seem like a lot. I think that Obama should do whatever it takes to end the war.

My sports

I like to play and watch sports. I like to play and watch hockey. I love to play, hit, shoot, and score. It is very fun. I like when I line up to start the game and slash the guy a little bit when the ref isn’t looking to get the guy mad. Then I love to crash the net and stand in front of the net like Tomas Holmstrom. I score a lot of my goals crashing the net. I also like to watch hockey. I am a huge fan of the Detroit Red Wings. My favorite player is Pavel Datsyuk, Chris Osgood, or Nick Lidstrom. I also like Tomas Holmstrom. I was jumping up and down when they won the Stanley Cup in 2008. I was really mad when they lost to the Penguins in 2009 but maybe they can pull through in 2010 and win it all.

I also love to play and watch baseball. It is my favorite sport and my favorite team is the Detroit Tigers. I used to play on a travel team but right now I don’t know what team I am going to play on. I like to play catcher and second base. I like stepping up in the batter’s box and waving my bat a couple times and then staring the pitcher in the face. Then I love it when I get a big hit. I also like rooting for the Tigers. I was so happy when they made the playoffs for the first time in my lifetime in 2006. I was disappointed when they lost in the World Series but I was still happy that they made it that far. This year they made the playoffs again! So I am hoping for a similar or better result. Hopefully they can do it.

I’m not very good at playing football but I love to watch it. I like college football more than professional football. My favorite college team is the Michigan Wolverines. Last year they didn’t do so good, they only went 3-9 but they won a trophy. This year, they are 4-0 and they are doing great. I like the Detroit Lions too. They did horrible last year and went 0-16, but this year, they won! They are 1-2 which is already better than the previous years. Hopefully both teams can keep winning. Hopefully all of these teams can keep winning. I dont like Michigan State that was just in the picture.

Memoir of high school

I was so used to summer and sleeping in until 11. But on September 8th I was awake with a huge building in front of me at about 7 in the morning. I couldn’t believe that summer was already over. I felt like that a couple weeks ago I had ended 8th grade and I was very tired. I walked into Stevenson and was stunned by the amount of people. I wasn’t ready to start school but I had 9½ months left ahead of me until I could see summer break again but I thought that it was bound to happen sooner or later.

I had no idea that there was a courtyard that you could walk through .Because of that I was late to one of my classes on the first day. I had walked around the corner instead of walking through the courtyard and got caught in a big group of people that took me a while to get out of so I was a little bit late. I probably could’ve made it if I would’ve gone through the courtyard. Then after class I figured out about the courtyard so I couldn’t be late get late to that class again.

Later in the day I had another little situation with the courtyard. I found my way to the courtyard and worked my way outside. But the door in front of me had closed and I just continued walking. I went to go to open the door but I couldn’t. I had thought that maybe the door was hard to open or that I was really weak. But I realized it was locked. I turned around and tried to open the other door and that was locked too. I thought that I was locked outside, but then somebody saw me outside and they opened the door for me. I was very lucky that somebody saw me and opened the door for me. I thanked them and just got to class on time.
I changed a lot of things in my paper. I changed my lead slightly and made it a little longer. I took less off of being late to second hour because I didn’t know that the courtyard was there and added more to the time when I got locked out. I thought that I added more detail to mine. I used paragraphs this time. I also think I did a good job of developing my paper. I also think that I made a point to my paper

I am very athletic. I enjoy playing sports. I used to play soccer and I play hockey and baseball. Baseball is my favorite and I like to watch sports too. I like all Detroit sports teams. My favorite sport to watch is college football.

B
I’m upsest with baseball. I like to watch baseball but most of all I like to play baseball. I’m a huge fan of the Tigers and I collect baseball cards too. I think I am okay at baseball I played on a semi-travel team last year and I did okay.

I like to eat Chinese food. I like the egg rolls and rice. My favorite though has to be general t’soas chicken. It is mild and delicious, especially with rice. I also like wonton soup.

My worst grade that I have ever gotten on anything was a D. And I hadn’t got a D until Mr. Fielders class when we had to write 2 papers in the first week of school and I got a D on both of them and that made me mad.

E
I like to eat eggs. My favorite kind is sunny-side-up. I love when I diop the toast in the yolk. It’s almost like a jelly but isn’t sweet like jelly. Then I love the taste of the egg whites. It is delicious.

I like to watch football. I like to play it too but I like the competition in college football. I like pro football also but again my favorite is college football.

I like to golf. I’m not very good but I enjoy it. I slice the ball a lot which means it hooks to the right and I’m not a very good putter. My best score is a +16 on 9 holes and I’ve only golfed maybe 4 times.

I like to play hockey. I have played hockey for 9 years. I play on a house league. I’ve never tried out for a travel team because I think travel would be too much money.

I like ice. I like how its cools off my drinks on a hot summer day. I like skating on it as well. If it wasn’t for ice, everyone would be hot and ice hockey wouldn’t exist.

Jaguars are my favorite animals. They are really fast and the football team is from Jacksonville and I like Florida. I also like the car, it is awesome.

I am Polish and I love to eat kielbasa. It is like I bratwurst but better. It is very good with sauerkraut.

My favorite pro football team is the Detroit Lions. They aren’t very good but they are from my home town and I always root for them. Hopefully they will win a game this year.

One of my favorite kinds of cookies is Oreo’s. I like to take them apart and dip them in milk then like the filling off. Then I did the cookie part back in and eat it. I think it tastes very good.

I like to play. I will play almost any game or sport. I like card games and board games and games that you make up and games that are organized sports.

I also enjoy quilts. They are very warm and comfortable. I don’t have one in my bed but I like using quilts as blankets.

The Red Wings are the best hockey team ever. I like them not only because the y are from Detroit but that they are just a great team. I like all the Swedes. MY favorite Swede is either Lidstrom or Holmstrom but my favorite all together player is Osgood and Datsyuk.

As you can see I like sports. But I also like steak. It is definitely my favorite kind of meat. It tastes phenomenal with A1 Steak Sauce or almost any other kind.

My all time favorite sports team is the Tigers. They have their moments like in 2006 but sometimes they aren’t too good. My favorite players are Brandon Inge and Curtis Granderson. They are both amazing fielders and usually amazing hitters. Inge is usually is a power hitter but Granderson is usually clutch and I like both.

I thank the man or woman who invented the umbrella. If it wasn’t for them, whenever it would be raining, everybody would be soaking wet.

High school

My School year has been good. I have gotten lost a couple times but I had found my way. On the first day of school I didn’t know that there was a courtyard to walk through. So I was trying to get to my classes without being late. But since I didn’t know there was a courtyard I walked all the way around the A hall to the B hall and I turned the corner and kept on walking then the bell rang. So I was late to that class. Then I walked out of that class and found out that there was a courtyard that you could walk through.

Something else that happened in my school year so far I got locked outside. I was going to class and going through the courtyard but then the door in front of me had closed I just kept walking and tried to open the door. But I couldn’t the door was locked. I looked behind me and that door was closed too. But luckily when I turned around someone opened the door for me. So I was lucky that somebody opened the door for me.

There is also this place that we go to in gym called the Fitness Center and it has Stairmasters, Treadmills, Weight machines, and a lot of other things. I like when we go there because I just think it is a fun place to be. I like going on all of the machines and my favorite is the bike with the fan in it. One time we had to stay on the same machine for 20 minutes and when you ride that bike it blows air into your face so you are cool and you aren’t sweating as much. If you go on a different a different bike you get hot quickly.
